| Job description: | This is a fantastic opportunity to join Aberdeenshire's award winning Douneside House. Awarded Visit Scotland’s “Best Hotel Experience” 2023. Amazing local produce along with our own large vegetable and herb garden, looked after by a team of 7 expert gardeners which provides over 80 varieties of fruit and veg for the kitchen. There are no egos in our kitchen – everyone is involved in menu planning, ideas and pulling together. So the right character is just as important as cooking skill. As we get busier, this is a new position to the kitchen, and a great opportunity for someone to develop in a well-resourced/steady kitchen team. An opportunity to develop your pastry skills too, working with our Head Pastry Chef. One of our brigade goes out front into our Library restaurant to meet with guests most evenings – this varies among the team so ideally you would be comfortable chatting with guests (not essential though). Douneside House is owned by The MacRobert Trust, a grant making charity, which means we invest significantly in team training, development and our apprenticeship schemes. We encourage and support our team to undertake stagiaires, external and internal training. |
