Douneside House won the Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Award for “Best Eating Experience 2024” and was awarded "AA Inspector's Choice Hotel 2025". We are a small team that loves providing an amazing guest experience that is personal to each person who visits.
Douneside House has 10 bedrooms in the main building, with additional on-site holiday cottages and apartments.

There are two on-site restaurants, the Conservatory restaurant (up to 40 covers) and the 3 AA rosette Library restaurant (up to 14 covers).
From time to time, Douneside House is also booked for exclusive events, so can cater for functions up to 60, and it hosts quarterly exclusive dining club events.

We are looking for an experienced breakfast chef to join the team. You must have proven experience within a similar luxury kitchen environment, a true passion for food, a willingness to learn, and good food hygiene and knife skills.

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
• An important member of the award-winning kitchen brigade. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we like to do it right. The Breakfast Chef will support the Head Chef in breakfast menu planning, sourcing the best quality ingredients, training other team members on breakfast to cover days off/holidays, and undertaking all H&S requirements. The Breakfast Chef is often working alone in the early morning, so the role would suit a responsible chef who takes pride in what they produce and is happy to work independently.
• The role provides an excellent opportunity to be involved in other aspects of kitchen prep for lunch and evening service.
PACKAGE & BENEFITS
• Base Salary: Up to £13.50 per hour plus gratuities (shared equally, paid monthly in addition to base)
• Complimentary health club membership
• Employer pension contributions of 5%

• Quality shared accommodation is available in the local village of Tarland. Tarland is a semi-rural village in the heart of Aberdeenshire, and is about a 10-15 minute walk to the hotel. It has a couple of pubs, shop, cafe, pharmacy and other local businesses. Some of our team don't drive but it definitely helps if you do. Tarland is a great place to live if you love the outdoors - there's hiking, Scotland's best mountain bike trails, fishing, golfing - all on the doorstep. If accommodation is required, this is charged at £80 per week (inclusive of rent and all bills).
