Monday 20th January

As I prepare to go to New York at the end of this week I have been trying to sort out a brief itinerary for the 5 nights that we are there. One of the main sights I am keen on seeing is the 9/11 memorial and the Empire State building. I am a big fan of Friends, so I have always wanted to see the building that they stay in, even though the series was filmed in LA. We are staying just a street away from Times Square, so we are very central to all the sights. Myself and my boyfriend are big foodies so we are very keen to try as many restaurants/ styles of food as we can during our stay. There are two main foods I want to try; one is a proper New York Bagel and the other is a corn dog. I am also very keen to visit China Town to try some authentic cuisine. The weather is very cold now and it has been lightly snowing over the weekend which I am very excited for as I have always wanted to visit New York in the snow. We also plan to either visit Jersey Gardens or Woodbury Commons for a spot of shopping during our stay.

If anyone has any sights or restaurants that they can recommend, then please let me know! We like all types of food. We plan to visit Gallaghers Steakhouse for my birthday which is on Saturday, they have a 3-course lunch time deal which looks really good, so we are excited to try this too, and possibly a few cocktails to celebrate too.

The CIS team all helped me celebrate early on Saturday as I had my 21st party at Hugo’s here in Moffat. A great night had by all and just the start of the celebrations.

Monday 6th January 2020

Our first full week back in the CIS office and there is lots happening. We are getting new jobs registered and we are seeing an influx of CV’s. Whilst relief remains quiet, we have lots of permanent positions currently available on our website.
It is nice to get back into a routine again after the festivities and to get back into the swing of things here again in the office. We have set our monthly targets which allows us to have an idea in mind of what we are aiming to achieve. We find that January can be a good month for chefs looking for work as they are looking for a fresh start for the New Year. We have positions all over Scotland, parts of the Lake District and also the Channel Islands as well.
If you are looking for a new permanent position or you would consider something new and would like some more details then please either PM us or send an up to date CV and recent references to recruitment@chefsinscotland.co.uk
