Out and About Friday 8th October 2021

53 relief chefs out, this is the most we have had this year we managed to get to 49 week ending 20th August.

8 relief jobs confirmed for the week so far.

There is still work available, if you have any availability please get in touch we have jobs starting immediately for minimum 4 weeks.

I am also looking to see which chefs will be available for over the festive period – are you happy to work Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Double time is payable on Christmas Day and New Years Day, again please PM me or call 01683 222830 to update your availability.

Here are some of the chefs we have out

Tom Devlin is coming to an end at Sea Salt Bistro in Islay they are taking a well deserved break and re-opening on the 26th October.

Taylor McFarlane finished at The Angus Hotel and is straight back out up to Kinloch Lodge on Skye again where he spent some time in the Summer.

Stuart MacColl is at The Banff Springs Hotel until the end of the year.

Jason Keenan is helping out at Trigony House in Thornhill for a couple of weeks.

Scott MacIntyre is at The Loch Ness Inn in Drumnadrochit.

Lillian Clarkson is at Heathmount Hotel in Inverness.

Colin Thomson finished at Mackays Hotel in Wick then hopped over to Kylesku.

John Taylor is back up at The Grant Arms helping for a couple of weeks before his next assignment.

Out and About Friday 1st October 2021

We still have a good number of chefs out holding at 46, and 14 relief jobs confirmed for the week so far.

There are a few red ones on my list which means I am either waiting to hear back from the chef or the hotel.

There are still jobs coming in 3 and 4 by the day.

Unfortunately, we are not able to fill all the jobs on the relief list, but we do try our very best to do so.

We hope to get a few more chefs becoming available with furlough finishing as of yesterday, lets wait and see what the next week brings.

Here are a few chefs we have out at the moment.

Robert McHugh is just finishing his stint at Airds where he has got on brilliantly, he has taken a permanent position at Gleneagles.

Mark Shaw is still working away at Altskeith but was able to squeeze in some shifts at Monachlye Mhor also mid week.

Extensions – Richard Grandison and Steven Hill have both been asked to stay on with Cala Hotels in Stornoway. Both are new to CIS and both are getting on really well (thanks guys)

Stuart Agnew is at The Kincraig Hotel in Invergordon.

Ally Elder has just started his stint at Coul House in Contin.

Ross Hunter finished his first stint at Roxburghe Hotel after being extended and has headed to Nevis Bank Inn in Fort William.

Glyn Council is enjoying Selkirk Arms Hotel and has extended his stay.

Lawrence Hoy made his way up to Western Isles in Tobermory and is settling in with the team.

We have 47 relief chefs out working in Scotland and Northumberland.

We are still keen to see if you have any availability for relief work as we still have 30 jobs on our list still waiting to be filled.

Tony Orr and Taylor McFarlane are both at The Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie

Lillian Clarkson still holding the fort at Tillmouth Park

Noel Breaks was extended at Gretna Chase Hotel

Peter Norrie also back on the relief circuit and is at The Coul House

Dale Paton was at Fortingall Hotel (breath of fresh air were the comments) and is now at Ednam House

Fees of Interest

"Fees of Interest

For most of 2021 we have been offering adverts on our website / and we can have a look.
From next week we are doing to try taking “Fees of Interest” for permanent Head and Sous Chef jobs and see how that goes.
The cost of a fee of interest is £100 / £75 plus VAT upfront and a further fee is taken if you employ a chef suggested by CIS, subject to our terms & conditions at enclosed link. https://www.chefsinscotland.co.uk/content/terms/
We DO NOT want to waste your time or ours though so jobs must meet certain criteria for us to actively look.
This will be in terms of wage, working terms and conditions, availability of accommodation, number in the brigade, overtime paid, bonus paid and for what and so on."

We have 47 relief chefs currently out working in Scotland / Northumberland.

7 jobs confirmed for the week so far.

We still have 28 relief jobs to fill until the end of September – there are a few coming in for October also

If you are looking for work and are known to us please get in touch rates of pay are £19 for head chef, £17 for sous chef and £15 for chef de partie, accommodation is provided at no charge, return travelling expenses paid and guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week over 5 days.
